Its tradition in Ghana that when its your birthday you get buckets of water poured on you. For mine, I was pretty lucky. 2 of the elders in the apartment tried to get me but they missed. So the start of the day was pretty good. We baked a cake, sang happy birthday, the power was out all morning and as I blew out the candles and wished it to come back on, it did!!! Boko! After that I went on splits for the day with Elder Hartling in Apremdo. We enjoyed, he has a sweet area. He told everyone it was my birthday, trying to get them to pour water on me but we got dashed malt instead, and some lady we didn't even know, who didn't speak English said happy birthday as well! After a sweet day we started walking home when the power went out again. So.. we went to a resturaunt called Sizzlers (with a generator) and got pizza. They dashed us a bottle of sparkling cider and then they poured water on me. The Julanders came over that night and even sang a happy birthday for me!
The Julanders also did a black and white jazz concert at the stake center. I thought it was pretty weird, but Ishmael came dressed super nice with his date who I had never met before! He didn't tell her where they were going until they got there haha. But she enjoyed it and so did he. It was a sweet night.
Aaron bore his testimony at sacrament meeting this week about his baptism and the joy he felt during and after his baptism. It was half half fante english but it was still powerful.
This week was a lot of fun and flew by pretty fast. We have been working a lot better with the members. Sister Yalley is about to have a baby and was mad at me cause I predicted she would have it on Friday. But she said she would still name the baby after me!!
Thank you all for the birthday wishes! Love you!
Elder Darren Hodges
